Projection inspector: Assessment and synthesis of multidimensional projections

چکیده
As the number and complexity of visualization techniques have grown, it has become progressively more difficult to make a decision as to which technique to employ for any given situation or application. A particular case is that of multidimensional data visualization utilizing projections, which have gained much attention lately and are being utilized in a growing number of applications. With their popularity, many new variations of multidimensional projections have been proposed in the literature. Numerical evaluations are varied and are useful, but do not reflect visual properties of projections accurately. In this paper we present Projection Inspector, an approach that contributes to the problem of understanding the difference amongst projections. It is an interactive assessment method that allows a user to explore a “space” of known projection techniques and view their results, as well as to identify the differences between them. In addition, it generates “on-the-fly” new projection techniques via interpolations of existing techniques as the user explores the projection space. We present the theoretical foundations of the projection exploration space and an interactive tool that implements a view of this space. We demonstrate the approach with case studies that demonstrate the need for projection assessment and the value of combining projections into new, better suited, projection alternatives. & 2014 Elsevier B.V. A model based, anatomy dependent method for ultra-fast creation of primary SPECT projections
Introduction: Monte Carlo (MC) is the most common method for simulating virtual SPECT projections. It is useful for optimizing procedures, evaluating correction algorithms and more recently image reconstruction as a forward projector in iterative algorithms; however, the main drawback of MC is its long run time. We introduced a model based method considering the eff...
متن کاملSome notes on L-projections on Fourier-Stieltjes algebras
In this paper, we investigate the relation between L-projections and conditional expectations on subalgebras of the Fourier Stieltjes algebra B(G), and we will show that compactness of G plays an important role in this relation.
متن کاملm-Projections involving Minkowski inverse and range symmetric property in Minkowski space
In this paper we study the impact of Minkowski metric matrix on a projection in the Minkowski Space M along with their basic algebraic and geometric properties. The relation between the m-projections and the Minkowski inverse of a matrix A in the minkowski space M is derived. In the remaining portion commutativity of Minkowski inverse in Minkowski Space M is analyzed in terms of m-projections as...

Let ? be an open connected subset of the complex plane C and let T be a bounded linear operator on a Hilbert space H. For ? in ? let e the orthogonal projection onto the null-space of T-?I . We discuss the necessary and sufficient conditions for the map ?? to b e continuous on ?. A generalized Gram- Schmidt process is also given.
متن کاملA note on lifting projections
Suppose $pi:mathcal{A}rightarrow mathcal{B}$ is a surjective unital $ast$-homomorphism between C*-algebras $mathcal{A}$ and $mathcal{B}$, and $0leq aleq1$ with $ain mathcal{A}$. We give a sufficient condition that ensures there is a proection $pin mathcal{A}$ such that $pi left( pright) =pi left( aright) $. An easy consequence is a result of [L. G. Brown and G. k. Pedersen, C*-algebras of real...
